Prunus ‘P002S' PP25,767 Sucker Punch
Here is the story behind sucker punch
per scott skogerboe
Clayton told me if I came up to Helena he'd let me take cuttings. I couldn't afford it back then but the excitement was to great so i put it on my credit card and did it anyway in early July. Prime softwood season.
When I arrived Clayton took me out to his seed trees where the tree was marked.
When we found it the tree had been shaded out and was completely dead.
Clayton felt so bad because l'd come so far and spent so much money. He thought for a moment and said "I've got something better. " He brought me to the tree which was to become Sucker Punch and said
" This tree hasn't suckered in 30 years. I alway thought it should be cloned and patented but I never did so here let me give it to you so you don't go home empty handed."
